Your Tasks
Our research focuses on the development and clinical translation of adoptiveimmunotherapy for malignant and non-malignant diseases with T cells that have been modified by gene transfer to express chimeric antigen receptors (CARs). CAR T cell therapy is a transformative treatment in cancer medicine and the Head of Core Facility desired for this project will have the ability to make a contribution to its transformation beyond malignant diseases.
Your project: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced scientist with strong expertise in mouse models for basic cancer research and translational oncology, to start as soon as possible. The role involves overseeing the full range of services offered by the Chair of Cellular Immunotherapy, including expert guidance, support, and resources for designing, conducting, and evaluating animal experiments in the context of CAR T-cell research. Depending on the researcher's needs, both full and assisted services are provided, including training in specific in vivo techniques and developing new mouse models. The position also includes contributing to animal research proposals, managing administrative processes in compliance with the German Animal Protection Law (TierSchG) and the Animal Protection-Experimental Animal Act (TierSchVersV), and representing the Chair during interactions with regulatory authorities. The successful candidate will lead a team of technical staff, manage the facility's budget, and ensure proper documentation of all experiments
Your Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced scientist with a university degree in veterinary medicine, biology, or a related field, holding a PhD and over 3 years of postdoctoral experience in a research environment. The ideal candidate has experience in preparing, navigating, and reporting animal licensing documents in Germany within the German Animal Protection Law (TierSchG) and the Animal Protection-Experimental Animal Act (TierSchVersV), alongside several years working with diverse experimental systems, including genetically engineered mouse models, syngeneic systems and xenotransplantations. They should demonstrate a strong interest in establishing study protocols and in vivo models, with experience in negotiating and managing collaborative international research projects. Leadership skills are essential, including supervising technicians, animal caretakers, and PhD students. A structured, precise, and independent work style, coupled with analytical thinking and strong problem-solving abilities, is required. Excellent written and spoken German and English skills are essential.
