- University Hospital Würzburg – Comprehensive Heart Failure Center
- 01.10.2026
- Full-time
- Temporary with possibility of extension
Application deadline: 15/07/2026
The University Hospital of Würzburg is recruiting for a postdoctoral position (m/f/d) at the Comprehensive Heart Failure Centre (CHFC) and the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Centre (SFB) 1525 ‘Cardio-immune Interfaces’.
We offer
The Comprehensive Heart Failure Center (CHFC) and the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1525 "Cardio-immune Interfaces" at the University Hospital Würzburg form a unique, nationwide hub dedicated to advancing the emerging field of cardio-immunology. Within this interdisciplinary network, we are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral researcher (m/f/d, E13, 100%) to work on a project characterizing the adaptive immune landscape in cardiovascular disease. As part of this network, you will benefit from close collaborations with clinical departments in the hospital, and from a supportive, structured mentoring environment designed to foster career development.
Your Tasks
- Decode the cardio-immune crosstalk by tracking antigen-specific T cells longitudinally in heart failure patients and mechanistically modeling their roles in experimental mouse models.
- Bridge experimental and computational biology to investigate how pathogenic T cells functionally evolve and where they localize during disease progression.
- Study antigen-specific T cell responses using spectral flow cytometry, single-cell RNA/TCR sequencing, functional TCR screening, and high-resolution in situ spatial transcriptomics (Xenium platform).
- Map precise antigen-specific responses within cardiac niches to provide a foundation for patient stratification and the development of targeted, immune-based diagnostic tools in heart failure.
Your Profile
- PhD degree in Immunology, Cell Biology, or a related life sciences discipline.
- Extensive hands-on experience with mouse models (animal handling experience or FELASA B is a plus) and human clinical samples.
- Strong motivation to independently analyze single-cell and spatial sequencing data.
- Excellent organizational skills, team spirit, and English fluency.
