A postdoctoral position (German TV-L 13, 100%) for two years (with option of prolongation) is available starting 1 July 2026 at the Dept. of Endocrinology of the University Hospital Würzburg. The successful candidate will become member of our interdisciplinary research group developing an advanced gene-engineered immune cell therapy against adrenocortical carcinoma. Our team is embedded in an excellent scientific environment within the framework of an interdisciplinary DFG-funded transregional collaborative research center (https://adrenal-research.de) with additional support of the Nefkens Adrenal Cancer Foundation (https://www.nac.foundation/).
We have developed a CAR T cell program against adrenocortical carcinoma, which is now already in the stage of transfer to the clinic. Our phase 1 trial started im summer 2025. In this research project, we will improve this immunotherapeutical approach. The ambition is to develop a combinatorial CAR-T cell and CAR-macrophage immune cell product, where the CAR constructs are customized to support the activity of T cells and macrophages, respectively.
More about our previous research can be found by reading our publications (e.g. Landwehr et al. J Clin Endocrinol Metab. 2024; doi: 10.1210/clinem/dgae109. Landwehr et al.
