The Department of Nuclear Medicine at the University Hospital Würzburg is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate (f/m/d) to join the research group of Prof. Johannes Tran-Gia (Heisenberg Professorship for Multimodal Imaging and Theranostics). The position is part of an innovative project on AI-driven optimization of internal dosimetry, with a focus on quantitative SPECT/CT imaging.

Your Tasks

  • Development and validation of AI-based methods to improve internal dosimetry in radiopharmaceutical therapy, with a focus on quantitative SPECT/CT.
  • Application and further development of algorithms for image enhancement, segmentation, and quantitative analysis.
  • Integration of AI methods into clinical dosimetry workflows.
  • Presentation of research results at scientific conferences and publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Your Profile

  • Completed university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in medical physics, computer science, physics, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in medical imaging and AI applications in healthcare.
  • Practical experience with Python and machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
  • Background in nuclear medicine or SPECT/CT is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken); knowledge of German is advantageous.
